Finding Purpose
People always ask me how do you find purpose and everytime I give them a similar answer. It’s not so much about finding it, it’s more about manifesting it. Creating it. We’re sold this narrative that people who have that image of their purpose, found it. That’s not always the case. You’re always comparing things to how you see the result of what other people have already. Instead of paying attention to the ways that they’ve created what they’ve got. There is no black and white in life, life is grey. Nearly nothing goes as planned and anybody who has lived life knows that that’s the case.
So how do you create purpose? Well, first things first you have to actually be doing something that isn’t routine to you. People think that things are gonna just fall in your lap like oh hey there purpose thanks for coming to me. No. If you do what you’ve always done then you’ll get what you’ve always got.
What to do? Well, what are you interested in? If you like reading all the time, well try writing something and see how you feel doing it and how it goes. If you like building things well maybe try carpentry. What you constantly do on a daily basis with enjoyment will help you gauge what you can try and do.
Not everything is meant to be incredibly spectacular. In this day and age, the internet is more accessible and used than ever before. We’re seeing all the most amazing things all the time and they're getting magnified 100 times. Falling into the trap of wanting to be on top of the world is a trap that we all fall into at one point or another. Thinking that somewhat discredits the simple things that people may just sincerely enjoy, like having a daycare taking care of toddlers. To sell yourself this image that you need more, more, more is setting yourself up on a treadmill running nowhere fast.
Why do you want things? When people overly want something, It may not be because they want it. It may be because they think if they got it then they’d be happier. Happiness is a problem in that sense because once you’ve got it, then what? You’ll be happy briefly, then what?
Pass me that blunt and give me another shot, oh yea and call the homie Jose and ask if he can do me an 8 ball for 150. We run from what we gotta deal with and in return it blocks us from what we should be doing. Things are uncomfortable to deal with, but the boogeyman doesn’t go away till you bitch slap his ass back to hell. Not all medicines taste good but the ones that taste bad typically are the most effective.
The funny thing about purpose is it’s not much about you getting it, making it, or finding it. Purpose a lot of the time becomes something you give to other people. I’ve heard people say if I had a kid, that kid would give me a reason to live, but then they never think about the fact that they have to give the kid a reason to live. It’s a weird paradox where you made the kid but now you need to get things done for the kid. It’s not about you anymore it’s about guiding the child, That purpose is giving the kid a path through life. People sing to make people happy for the most part. Playing sports to give your nation, city, team something. It’s external, not internal.
“Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth” Muhammad Ali

I agree that purpose is not meant for you to find or gain. Purpose is for you to give to others and so on and so Forth
